9 Years! 9 whole years since I started ZNN. And what an incredible 9 years it has been. Through ups and downs, we have managed to persist to the point where the sequel to Zootopia, a film we weren’t sure would ever even happen, is now less than a year away! Thank you all for your support and dedication over the years to this wonderful community.
But of course, ZNN would not be what it is today without the people in the background making it all happen. They deserve recognition for all their work ensuring that we have articles going up regularly, from scouring the web for new pieces of fanart to managing the code and software that makes it all function.
To that end, we are bringing back a format that we haven’t used in many years: Meet the Team! Let’s get right into it, shall we?
Translation Bear
What I do: Translate Japanese Zootopia content into English
When I Joined: 12/13/2017
Something About Me: The translations I did for this fandom helped me get my Bachelor’s in Japanese, saved me roughly $2500 in tuition, and helped me live in Japan for five years. That’s not a joke.

What I do: I work as a Treasure Hunter, pretty much searching for fanart and content about Zootopia
When I Joined: I joined in 2016 when the team saw my effort of sharing artworks and content about Zootopia.
Something About Me: About myself, well I am a friendly and dedicated guy who wants to give support asm uch as I can. Being a fan of Zotoopia did open new doors to meet more people and make friends.

What I Do: CodeMonkey, made the original ZNN Otto tool and assisted a lot before starting to study.

Something About Me: Shy nerd who loves programming and electronics, currently doing my last semester for my BSc in Electrical Engineering.

What I Do: I usually just help out uploading pictures for Art of the Day, the pictures that the other treasure hunters found.
When I Joined: I believe at the end of 2017 or early 2018.
Something About Me: I’m doing my master studies and recently started working part time next to it. Apart Zootopia (and other furry stuff) I’m also into lego and ww2 tanks. Can’t wait for the 2nd movie! 😁

What I Do: Fic reviews and update posts
When I Joined: November 2021
Something About Me: Heyyyooo Zootopians.
I first got into this funky fandom, even before seeing the movie, thanks to the famous Zistopia fan comic. I began writing fics based on it (under an earlier name, J_Shute) and kicked off from there. It was my first real foray into fanfic writing, and since then I’ve carried on at a steady pace, in many cases moving on to big crossover fics series. The largest of which, Fantastic Foxes of Zootopia, is approaching its end now after over five years of work.
I’ve also dabbled in artwork, starting sketching and through time, practice, and two Zinktobers got good. Alas, like so many things, I have far more ideas than time.
Overall I’d say I enjoy making people laugh, making people get pumped up or emotional, and enjoy the challenge of trying new things and also working through puzzles… -Indeed, you can probably blame that last one for my love of writing crossovers. I also really like to help people, sharing advice and such, and have offered it on a number of people’s fics when asked. In the future, in the small lull I’ll have before Z2 drops, I want to try out more art, and also some very different things. I’ve got into alternate world geographies and spec bio, and have an idea for a few projects based on those that you might see.
Of course, even if I don’t have any plot bunnies when Z2 comes out, it’s going to be all hands on deck. -For a long time, I was in a position to do a lot of reading, and so volunteered to be an Abyss gazer for ZNN, reviewing submitted fics (and in many cases asking authors of stories I’d read if they’d want to be featured). Over time this led to me being in charge of the team before being tasked with bringing back the fic update posts, something I’ve been chipping away for what will soon be two years.
Finally… Most of you may know me by my bird logo, but not the guy you’re seeing above. The bird, a Lammergeier (bearded vulture) is probably my all time favourite extant animal, due to just how expertly and gracefully it’s adapted to its ecological niche. However, on joining ZNN, I needed a mammal sona instead and so, after thinking it through, settled on my Falkland’s Wolf character you see here. Thinking it through is also where I got the O.H Shoot name, after a few discussions. What does the O.H stand for? Whatever you want it to!

What I Do: Searching for arts of Zootopia to keep the community alive.
When I Joined: In the beginning of 2020.
Something About Me: I’m a Spaniard blue fox, born in 1994, that fell in love with Zootopia and created self-insert fanfic with my sona, named Vol Jiménez, around 2017. I love the community and the film, the people is lovely and friendly. I also like to sing, draw and dance. If you meet me, my usual greeting will be with a smile

When I Joined: I joined the team in April of 2022
Something About Me: Well I had a birthday earlier this month and I pass level 40! Hurray me! I’ve been happily married for 17 years and have three boys. When I was growing up we went camping and canoeing a lot. It’s still a hobby I enjoy today and go as often as I can. I spent time in the army as a combat engineer and satellite operator. I did two tours in Iraq in that time and feel the efforts I made while there were intended to help the people build their country up. I enjoy watching baseball and football with the family. Every year we put out bird feeders for hummingbirds and look forward to our blueberry bushes blossoming. I first saw Zootopia in late 2017. Some time after that some fanart started appearing in my Pinterest feed. After a while I started seeing comics and soon after fanatics. I eventually started writing stories of my own and sharing them. Unfortunately, as my kids got older and started getting more active I no longer had the time to write like I once did. Now I squeeze out a sentence or two when time allows and hopefully one day I’ll share some more. But I did join the ZNN team and now I help out as much as I can. One of my favorite things about story writing is the ability to explore worlds as you build them. As well as the characters and building their personalities. I hope to meet or chat with you all and get to know you. See you in the discord!

What I Do: Back in 2021 I joined ZNN as a pre-reader for the fanfiction section. It was quite an adventure and experience to dive deeper into the huge world of Zootopia fanfictions. Yet as for today I am not active in this section of ZNN anymore as I stepped up into the position of a Fearless Overlord to watch and manage various departments within ZNN.
When I Joined: 2021
Something About Me: Guess I am one of that coffee loving IT foxes in his mid 20s. Was once more known for owning a game server with its own little community but someday everyone of us needs a change. For me that meant to embrace my passion for Zootopia a bit more as well as focusing on writing my own fanfiction (which will for sure be finished and posted one day). Besides all that computer screen time I am also a hobby mixologist and a quite social fox.

When I Joined: 2016
Something About Me: Well, I’m a furry at heart and got super excited when Zootopia was announced, I was one of the few people who was motivated to write a fan fiction based on the teaser trailer alone. I was several chapters in on it when the movie came out. After that, I was motivated to help the fandom any way that I could and have been here ever since. I enjoy writing. Though I wish I could draw, I’ve always felt my fic would do better as a comic. I like collecting Zoop Merch, what little there is. A bit of a techie. But will always appreciate the calm woosh of ocean water on a beach somewhere. Love to swim. Love the sun but like the calm pitter patter of rain. Anything calming and peaceful, which is always welcome in my busy and noisy life. I’m married, and what’s cool is my wife’s ‘sona is a Bunny and mine is a Fox, so when Zootopia came out, it felt like kismet in that Nick and Judy reflect how my wife and I are with each other. Best friends but also together. Total WildeHopps romantic. Would love to see a TV show out of the sequel, maybe an open world game, something we can regularly sink our collective teeth into. I’ve developed a bit of a mysterious nature in the fandom, but in truth I’m always welcoming anyone DMing me. So, feel free to send me a ping. 😀 *Thumbs Up*

What I Do: I’m one of the illustrators for the team, I do artwork for any special post, project, or podcast.
When I Joined: Not too long after it was made — 2016, I believe
Something About Me: I am a middle child of three, so that means I’m the favorite. I’ve drawn on everything I could get my hands on such as walls, my bedframe, myself, even in the galaxy (I’ve dabbled in the dark arts and drew an “UWU” somewhere in the Milky Way — the Hubble should pick it up at some point). A lot of my interests also include engineering, robotics, architecture, and theater.

When I Joined: Aug. 5, 2016 is the earliest chat I can find
Something About Me: Hey, I’m Nate, the unpaid intern that Julius dredged up from Tumblr before the dawn of time. Making me put the date when I started at ZNN should be a war crime. When I started here I was a completely unqualified high school student branching into one of my first real fandom experiences. Now with college and most of law school behind me, 2016 feels like a lifetime ago — though I’m still probably totally unqualified. As I said, I’m 2/3 of the way to being a public defender. When I’m not reading a casebook or prepping for trial practice I enjoy playing Magic: the Gathering, painting D&D minis, curling up with a good book, or listening to a good Defunctland documentary.

Something About Me: Hey there! I’m Fonz, and I manage the social media accounts for ZNN. I started out at ZNN writing merchandise reviews, before leaving. Later on, I pitched the idea of starting a ZNN Instagram account, and I was welcomed back to help run it! As team members moved and changed positions, I was offered the role of Social Butterfly Team Lead, which I excitedly took! I have an awesome team and they do a fantastic job running each account. Some fun facts about me: I love photography, video games, reading, my Ford Mustang, and my incredible boyfriend!
