Hello again, fellow fans of Zootopia. It’s time for another collection of fanart, brought to you by ZNN

We-l-l-ll, not exactly fan-art for this week’s collection.  Today we’re bringing you some newly discovered Zootopia concept art–new to us that–is plus some concept pics from the archives that we haven’t posted before.

Our Featured Image is only one of only two pics we know of showing the Canyonlands…and the only one featuring the red-rock district’s hotel zone.

And we’ve got lots of other great concept pics lined up this week–landscapes, portraits, street scenes, artwork of props, and maybe even a rarity or two. It’s all there, waiting for you when you scroll down. Enjoy…and don’t forget to show the original artists some love by clicking on the source-links.

Misty’s on the Vine:  We never saw it in the film, but it’s been mentioned many times in the Zootopia Guidebooks, etc.   We’re hoping it will appear in the sequel.

My favorite pic of the first series – an image of Downtown Zootopia.  I just love the ‘organic’ architecture.

Next up, a series of early concept titles for Zootopia.  We think the logo Disney went with in the end is the best of the bunch.

And now, let’s get into the concept art from the archives.

Here’s another concept pic that made it into the final cut, the Cliffside Sanitorium

Remember the Net Gun Larry and Gary used to bag Mr. Manchas?  Here’s a close-up view.  These weapons actually exist by the way.

Now here’s a very interesting piece of concept art.  Note the chimp and the crocodile at far left.  Apparently reptiles and primates were a thing in the early imagining of Zootopia.

Here’s a concept pic of Nick’s apartment.  Any though Judy’s flat was seedy.

We’ve seen concept art of Skye before…but never this detailed.   Whoa!

Some cityscape sof Zootopia by Man Arenas.  His designs were a lot more retro than some of the later concepts

Nick Orsi was one of the first Disney concept artists to imagine Nick and Judy

This was quite a find.  I’ve seen several concept images of Mr. Big by Cory Loftis, but this is the first Fru-Fru pic of his that I’ve come across.  Love that expression and the hoop earrings.

Until next time…methinks Judy is going to find a new use for that mallet.

  1. Nick’s apartment in 19 is very interesting. Never having seen this, I made his apartment in a boiler room in Out of the Woods, which is exactly what this seems to be. It even had the little narrow windows at the top of the wall as in the picture. I’m tickled to see the same idea was in the heads of the creators as well.

  2. I wish that the original Tame collar Plot were the final Plot for Zootopia, it could’ve so many Oscars…
