Zootopia is the best movie of 2016. Yes, that statement is my opinion, but it’s not just me that thinks this. Hundreds of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes landed it firmly in the top 10 animated films of all time. Millions of people voted with their wallets, earning it a whopping $1,023,623,796 in the box office– the second Disney animated movie ever to do so.
And now, Disney has put it among the films it feels are worthy of awards by major Movie Award organizations (i.e. The Oscars).
If an animated movie were ever to win Best Picture, Zootopia would completely deserve it. But that’s not even the actual news I’m here to report.
As a part of the process involved with these awards, Disney has released the complete, unaltered, Zootopia Script. And it’s free for your viewing pleasure.
At 110 pages long, the script is full of things we rarely see in the final movie, such as direction notes and sound cues. There are also some interesting tidbits we didn’t know about before. For example, the Astronaut Sheep from the Carrot Days Festival is named Sharla, the police academy drill instructor’s name is Major Friedkin, and Bucky and Pronk are actually named Kudu Pootosser and Oryx Pootosser. And apparently they’re described as “Artsy”. Who knew?
Check it out for yourself over on the Walt Disney Studios Awards website! And be sure to leave a comment below if you find any other fun facts that may or may not have actually made it into the movie!
Wow! I bet die hard Zootopia fans will be following the script while watching the movie…for the umpteenth time. Like me! Thanks so much, Andy, for sharing this!
You know that I will be! You're welcome!
No surprise there! Thank you for these great articles!
Well then, the fanfic writers are going have a blast at this script.
Niiiice!

The "Pootosser" name is used for Bucky and Pronk in the official comic "The Noise From Next Door" so the name change must have been last minute.
I think Gareth and Sharla were named by the directors a while ago, but I'm not 100{fc17e15ed6c8f701884a899a735d4ed94fc8cfa66fc2f404dd33f42f9afeb7a1} sure. I know the names have been going around though (though I have heard 'Mary' in relation to Sharla)
Agree w.r.t. last minute changes.
Some descriptions in the script doesn't really match well with the movie. For instance, the script mentioned that Judy was 10 when she was on the stage. But in the movie, Judy said that she was 9 when the incident with Gideon happened.
But those inconsistencies are very few and far between.
And omigosh the "Nick Hazing" scene was totally heartbreaking in the script; they actually dialed it down in the movie.
Angus, Thank you very much. A google app, a notification of shown interest, and here I am. And in point of fact, it also appeared among the top of the google search results when the term is typed.
I, uh, have been avoiding fanship, to avoid the dangers of it. As I understand it. Anyway, thanks for the notification/
Indeed, even the viewer does not get the exhausted feeling with the long arrangement of scenes. The Anime scenes are the most ideal method for diversion for both young ladies and folks and they clearly get the remarkable recollections. his comment is here
