Music is one of those things that just manages to resonate with people in ways many other forms of art and media can’t. As shown by the popularity of genres like K-Pop and J-Pop beyond their countries of origin, you don’t even need to be able to understand the song linguistically to still find it appealing.
While K-Pop and J-Pop songs are often used in anime, that doesn’t mean they aren’t used in other types of media as well, animated or otherwise.
