Art of the Day #42: Infinite Improbability!

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy has this to say on the subject of Zootopia.

“Zootopia is a place where the animals run the zoo.  This is not at all metaphorical, as the entire population consists of anthropomorphic animals.  The city of Zootopia itself is a metropolis hailed as a utopian state where ‘anyone can be anything‘.

“Anyone who has studied the laws of physics knows that this is regarded as a really, really bad idea.

“Recently, with the deployment of the Infinite Improbability Drive, Zootopia has been subjected to a series of improbability factors that have yet to normalize.  This has resulted in abnormal and unpredictable changes to the population, including absurd mutations, regular crossovers into parallel universes and entire oceans being replaced with strawberry Jello.

“Of particular note is the Improbability Drive’s effect on the Zootopian Space Program’s ambassador ship, the ‘Fur Contact’, which was transformed into a 108-minute long feature film.  This film gained popularity on the only habitable planet in sector ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha, but because it was popularized as fiction, it is considered by many to be the greatest failed first contact of an alien species in galactic history.

“Some residual effects of the Infinite Improbability Drive can be seen to have transmitted to the mental states of the population of said planet, resulting in bizarre interpretations of those Zootopians portrayed in the film.  A collection of some of the more absurd pieces of art dedicated to them can be found below.”

  1. >First, I changed my Google name. My name before this was FYIScience, but I realized that seemed like a complete ripoff of ASAPScience, so I changed it.

    >Second, I'm sorry to all of those who cherish, adore, and all around praise the classic movies from the latter half of the 20th century, such as The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, since I did not get the joke in the description. I HAVE seen, let me tell you, some other classics, such as the Godfather, the Matrix, etc.

    >Finally, this art makes me go out of my mind. You can interpret that however you like, but I'm not saying anything else, since that's the only thing I can say with absolute certainty.

    • Well, I wasn't referencing the movie, I was referencing the book and radio play (which are VASTLY better). Seriously, if you haven't read it, you seriously should.

  2. Uh…I'll just go drink some bleach and get my life over with now.

    I hope I helped

  5. Hello, I can actually confirm Envine's above statement, as I am the artist of #18
Both of the links Envine has provided are the legitimate source image and the video in which I drew the line-art for said image
Not that I mind my image being displayed on a site such as this, but it would be nice if the source was correct
    Thanks~
